Mr Lee taught us Science in Grade VI in 1978. He was our badminton coach too. Very strict but I think our batch passed with flying colours in the PSLE because of such dedication teachers .

I was in Swiss Cottage Primary School from 1983 to 1984. I transferred to the school in April 1983 after I relocated from Serangoon Gardens in April 1983. hi there, i'm posting the same msg as i did earlier on another SCPS gallery...Nice to see the spirit of SCPS lives on! I was there from 1978-83. Anyway, memories of Swiss Cottage came rushing back when I ran into former Principal Ratnagopal a few weeks ago at a supermarket. I remember very well the green Volvo he was driving at the time. While he looked frail, he must be in his late 70s or 80s, he looked very determined and he had no helper or minders with him. I went up to him and told him I was a student at Swiss while he was principal, his eyes brightened, he shook my hand and said well done! Hi, Came across your site thru' google search. Anyone here from Swiss Cottage in the 60's. I was there from 67-72. It was then called Swiss Cottage Integrated Primary School. It was called "Integrated" because there were both a "malay medium stream" and an "english medium stream". I am not sure when the school was started probably 1963 when Singapore was briefly part of Malaysia( Merger 63-65 ). The school was supposed to be a model of what the new Singapore should be like( the various races living together with english as a common lang ). There were many malays because there were many kampongs esp. along whitley road( currently raffles Town Club). The principal then was Mr. Liew ( can't remember his full name ) . Very fluent in both malay and english. Every assembly he would speak to the malay stream in malay and then english to the english stream. My daily allowance was 25cts- 10cts for noodle,mee-rebus,mee-siam("No hum of course"),etc and 15cts for bottled drink. Games we played were mainly "old type" like marbles, chartek, rounders( like softball but using a tennis or rubber ball and any stick) and of course hantam bola. Rep the sch in badminton in pri 5 for the 'senoir team". We did very well in 71, being the district champion(Bukit Timah) and then National runner-up. We had a dedicated teacher/coach in Mr. Lee( again can't remember his full name) and we trained on Sunday morning 8am-12pm using Sw Cot Sec badminton hall(it is only available on Sunday). I was also a member of the gardening society under a mr. Ngoi . Sw Cot had one of the best garden of all the pri sch back then. In 1971 when the commonwealth head of govt meeting was held in singapore, Swiss Cottage was selected to be visited by princess anne. Left the school in 73 for RI. Two of us from SW Cot made it to RI back then. I went to Sw Cot sometime in 1990 and again in late 90s or early 00/01. I saw that they had added an extension which was the new tuck shop. Yes primary school days are wonderful and care-free days. A pity that I lost touch with all of them esp Pauzi and Tan yong huat

I do really miss you guys. But I somehow forgot a lot of people's name. omggggggggg.. I'm so happy to find this website and picturessss.. didn't know that I could still find some.. SCPS is the greatest school ever! I still remember the first time going to the school for entrance exam.. And how students have to run around the hall during recess for overweight programme hahha i'm in it man though ppl wonders why.. Anyway, I'm Eliana Sidharta, the 1998 class with Tiffany Aman, Evelyn Tanudjaja, Arif Anwar, Sinca Sutanto etc.. We're all over different places but it'll be great if we could do reunion dinner.. Like many I'm just in shock right now. A month back when I ran into my fellow swiss cottagers from 20 yrs back I thought to myself. 20 yrs what are the odds. Just this weekend I finally recognise someone I been running into over the past month as a fellow swiss cottager. Had flashes of how that kid was playing zeropoint using rubberbands tied across those brown pillars that holds the sheltered walkway. 20 yrs! Today coming across this site and seeing images of my teachers from 20yrs back. They haven't change one bit. They in many ways made the place that we all know as Swiss Cottage Primary and what a wonderful place it was. -Clifford Yap 88

For a moment I was speechless when I came upon this wedsite by chance. I graduated from SCPS in 1986. Thou a few of us do still keep in touch, we are trying to locate the rest of our schoolmates way back during those years, 1983-1986. So far, Ummi(ex-SCPS) managed to locate 2 classmates from Indonesia & Phillipines. We hope to get in touch with more of our schoolfriends as we might have a plan to have a "Get-together" near future.
