The Clubmosses and Quilworts are two very ancient groups of plants that in days long ago where a much more dominant feature in the vegetation than today.
Nowdays only small humble plants remind us of the giant tree like organisms that once covered the earth and suply us of todays oil and gas.
In the Netherlands the Lycopsida are represented by the:
Clubmoss family (Lycopodiaceae )with Huperzia, Lycopodiella and Lycopodium
And the Quillwort family (Isoetaceae)with Isoetes.
