Occulta means hidden and that's exactly what this plant seems to do with its flowers. But due to the large leaves and pubescent inflorescent it still stands out on the shady moist forest floor where it grows. The species occurs on several islands in the Western Indian Ocean namely Madagascar, the Mascarenes and the Seychelles.
