This plant currently is placed into the genus stelis as a result of molecular studies.

Stelis lehmanneptis (Luer & R.Escobar) Pridgeon & M.W.Chase, Lindleyana 16: 264 (2001).

However the genus Stelis is quite different from this plant and therefore the current fashion is to remain the name Pleurothalis untill further studies have been done. (Currently in the process of doing)
