Chateau Pape Clement, planted in 1300: the estate, in a Bordeaux suburb, is the oldest planted vineyard in the region, given by Bertrand de Goth to his brother, the archbishop of Bordeaux. In 1306, the brother was elected Pope Clement, and gave the estate to the archbishopric of Bordeaux, from which, through the centuries, it passed into private ownership. It is described today as the second most important vineyard of the region.
