After our awe-inspiring first glimpse of the grand canyon this afternoon, we arrived at our canyon resort hotel - the Thunderbird Lodge. This was literally onle a few tens of feet from the canyon rim. We watched the sun set from that rim.

I then spent a late night playing with a telescope on the green looking at the clear skies of Arizona but was able to stir in time to catch most of the sunrise that morning. Awesome.
