The incredible, rough and extremely fast MiG-25 Foxbat surprised the West in the 1970's. Capable of doing Mach 3, NATO feared that the Soviet Union could produce the same quality of jetfighters as the West did. When a Foxbat diverted to Japan in 1976, it was clear the quality was far less than expected. Still, the MiG-25 remained an impressive airframe throughout its life. Because the huge fuel consumption and specialised and extensive maintenance, the operational life has ended in the 21st century. Let's just enjoy the good old days...
