Hard to imagine these days, but in July 1989 it was normal to place this brand new Mirage F-1EQ6 4622, destined for Sadam's Iraq, on the static at Cazaux open day. The F-1 that could carry the Exocet missile. It was a year before Iraq's invasion of Kuwait, so no harm was done so far.
There are zero sightings of this particular Mirage in Iraqi service after '89. Was it destroyed during Desert Storm two years later? Or did it divert to Iran and never was traced again? Or... It just never left France and was sold to another customer? It isn't that romantic. Stored for many years at Cazaux, since it was never paid by Iraq. A handful of Mirage F-1's destined for Iraq stayed, brand new, in France. I can imagine these have been dismantled by now.
