I have a question about nesting cavities. If I sent you a photo of a nesting cavity, could you tell me which woodpecker-type bird made it? It's in a 40 to 50 year-old cedar, living, and nearby is a similar aged Douglas-fir with sapsucker holes. So far on this preserve, only the red-breasted sapsucker, pileated woodpecker, hairy woodpecker, downy woodpecker, and flicker have been sighted or heard. Thanks, Rod.

If I sent you a picure of what I believe to be a male yellow-bellied sapsucker, could you positively identify it? He has a crest, unlike the other photos I've seen of supposed yellow-bellies. Also, I can't make out the distinct white bar on the wing, although it could be the angle of the lens. My husband took the photo. Please let me know if you'd like to see it, and provide me an email address. Thanks!
