Hello Rod: We are working with the folks at the San Juan County Conservation Land Bank in Friday Harbor, WA and were directed to your site. We're looking for a photo of a cedar waxwing that would be used on a temporary (1+ yr) interpretive panel encouraging wildflower gardens in the County. From your info, it seems as if we could use one of your photos for no charge (thank you) since the Land Bank is a non-profit, so long as we give credit to you as the photography. Could you confirm that for me? My email is sharon[at]pidseattle[dot][com] Thank you so much!

Hi Rod,

I work for a non-profit called Oxbow Farm and Conservation Center in their native plant nursery. We are creating some signage for native plants for sale and education purposes. I would love to use some of your beautiful photos, specifically of Heuchera chlorantha for this purpose.

Thank you, Talinna

Sorry if i doubled up, it won't let me post with a hyperlink, so I'm trying again. I tried your email but I don't think the one on your contributor profile is current, so I thought I'd try here.
Hello, I'm presently trying to reorganize and update a wiki of native plants in the south Salish Sea prairies, and the Burke Image collection has been a very helpful resource. This Wiki was created years ago, largely by botany students at Evergreen, and is intended to be a resource for prairie conservation at a general public level, and is also used by the folks at the Center for Natural Lands Management to support their prairie restoration work.

I've only finished 10 of 100 or so, but I'm working on making the formats more consistent and want to improve the citation system, including photographs. I was curious if you're open to the use of the photos you've posted on the Burke Image Collection? And if so, what sort of citation would you like? If your photos are already on their and not credited, my apologies! A lot of people have contributed to the site, please let me know, and I can edit or remove.

Hi Rod,

I'm working on a book on grass identification with Lauren Brown (it will be a revision of her original, 1979 book)and came across two excellent Dichanthelium acuminatum photos of yours on the Burke Museum website. Would there be a chance of using high resolution versions of those photos in our book? If so, I would very much appreciate being in touch about terms, conditions, permissions, copyright, etc. We are on contract with Yale University Press.

Thank you very much.

Hi Rod,

I'm very interested in your photo of the pink-sepaled Aquilegia flavescens from 2008. I have heard there may be hybrid populations of A. formosa x flavescens in the Wenatchee Mountains. Do you recall whether there were many individuals of this color-variety or just a single one? If you have any details please email me at j[dot]groh[at]alumni[dot]ubc[dot]ca

Thanks!
Jeff

Hi Rod
I work for a non-profit called the Institute for Applied Ecology. We are preparing a restoration plan for Herbert Farm and Natural Area with the aim of helping streaked horned larks. I was wondering if I could use one of your photographs of horned larks to illustrate the plan? Thanks,
Peter Moore

Hi Rod, I've been scanning through your plant photos. Glorious! There is one in particular i'd like to ask you about, the one labeled Trifolium variegatum. This is actually T. albopurpurem (rancheria clover), although it has unusually extensive whiye on the banner & wings. I've been studying clovers for 20 years now and lately concentrating on the albopurp. complex. I wonder if there is any chance you could collect a sample of this for DNA analysis next spring? Leaf samples, or better yet, seed. Material from the tomcat clover would also be appreciated, or any other annual clover in the area. I have no material from anything that far north so far.
Much appreciate any help. Will send my address when the time comes. And thanks again for all those beautiful pictures!

Hi -- I'm interested in a photo you had posted a couple of years ago of Erythronium quinaltense that you described as part of a population with all white tepals in an area you were monitoring. My e-mail is djross at pastconnections dot com -- sorry, I don't know if this is protected from spam spiders :-)

Dear Mr. Gilbert,

I am writing to notify you that I would like to use some of your top-notch bird images shown here on the pbase website. I am a volunteer for the U.S. Forest Service in the Coconino National Forest/Red Rock District in Sedona, Arizona. I am assisting with the preparation of a Powerpoint presentation on beginning birding that will be used strictly for educational purposes for tourists and local residents of the Red Rock District area. There will be no compensation for myself, for the presenter or for the USFS in the use of this presentation, and the presentation is not intended for distribution, sale, or any revenue-generating interest. The intent is simply to introduce casual birders or those interested in the hobby with species that can be found in the area, and to further their interest in the pursuit of birdwatching. Of course, special acknowledgement and appreciation will be provided within the presentation to you and any other sources who have granted permission to me for use of their photos.

Please advise if you have any concerns about my use of your photos in my presentation. I will be happy to answer any questions you might have. Thank you for your consideration.

Best regards,
John Felix

Rod,
Thank you for posting these photos, and for generously making them available for educational use. I work for a non-profit called WenatcheeOutdoors and am creating a basic birding slideshow for hikers. Not only are your bird photos beautiful, but they also show clear, detailed field markings, which will be ultra helpful for the new birders I'm trying to reach.

Regards,
Michelle Forster

My name is Austan and I am a journalist for the Army. I recently wrote a story about wildlife and habitat conservation on Joint Base Lewis-McChord. I want to say “Thank You” for allowing me to use your photos; they are awesome. If and when the article is published I will send you a link.

Hello,

My name is Maralyne and I am an intern with Sierra Club Canada. Sierra club is a non-profit environmental organization. We are currently seeking photographs of endangered species to include in a book that would be used as a part of a fundraising and awareness building campaign. Would you be willing to donate a picture of the Tall Woolly-heads, and the Taylor's checkerspot butterfly for use in our book. Full credit will be given to you as the photographer. The aim of this fundraising opportunity is also to encourage the public to be more aware of the wide variety of species that may be lost in the future.
Sierra Club Canada has been active in Canada since 1963, originally as chapters of the U.S.-based Sierra Club. Our national office opened in 1989, and in 1992 we incorporated to create a truly national presence. Today, we have five chapters across the country: British Columbia Chapter, Prairie Chapter, Ontario Chapter, Quebec Chapter and Atlantic Canada Chapter - in addition to our dozens of local groups in communities all across Canada from Cape Breton to Vancouver Island. The Sierra Youth Coalition is our youth affiliate. Sierra Club Canada is the agent of Sierra Club Canada Foundation, a registered charitable organization with the Canada Revenue Agency.
Sierra Club Canada has earned an excellent reputation within its constituency and the broader public for its thoroughly researched positions and for refusing to compromise on its ideals. Sierra Club Canada believes in the power of connection, of people everywhere working together to create a better world for all.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Maralyne Narayan

hi Rod,
just so beautiful, and thanks so, so much for making these available for use. I came to browse for a good Microseris laciniata shot on Karen's recommendation (after losing a whole cameraful of my own) and ended up spending half my afternoon dreamily gazing at photo after photo. Thanks and hope to see you one day soon. --Susan Waters

Your photos are wonderful. What a gift that you allow them to be used to help conserve these special places and species! I am creating a display board for the North Puget Sound Prairie Working Group. It is comprised of several organizations (more at: northsoundprairies.org). Your photos are an essential component of the display. Would you mind contacting me? I would like to request a couple photos in higher resolution, if they're available.

Most appreciative, Cyndi

Rod,

Thanks so much for providing all these beautiful photos. I am working with the Washington Native Plant Society (wnps.org) and we are planning on using one of your photos of a hummingbird for a poster to advertise Native Plant Appreciation Week (for a talk on using native plants for wildlife.) We will definitely credit you. Thanks so much for allowing nonprofits to use your work!

Thanks for making your photos available. I have borrowed a few images of the Northern Harrier that may be used in an interpretive panel at Bottle Beach State Park located on Grays Harbor. We will most definately provide you with credit for your photos if they are used. Particularly in these very tight budget times your generosity is much appreciated.

Hi Rod
Looks like you did some housecleaning. Looks good. I've been meaning to comment on the spotted owl. Like tell me again why we spent all this money on equipment. Bet you were feeling some excitement, then.
