We decided (Jan 2008) since the real estate market was rather off that we'd just renovate our home a little.
We tiled the whole place and completely knocked out our kitchen and rebuilt it from scratch.
Removed the soffitt, part of one wall and widened one of the kitchen entrances.
Oh yes... added matching stone to foyer and fireplace, new cabinets and appliances.
We did quite a bit of the prep work ourself and contracted out the
major jobs separately for tile, cabinets, electrical and stucco/drywall.
I did general contracting myself.
One heck of a learning experience with each decision being an ordeal in itself.
The bulk of this work took approximately four months.
