This was our first big road trip in the US. We drove from Menlo Park down to LA, then across to Tucson in South East Arizona, down to Sierra Vista, across to Portal (via New Mexico) up to Wickenburg, AZ and then Las Vegas in Nevada. The longest we drove in one day was the last leg from Las Vegas back to Menlo Park. In total we drove 2750 miles in the two weeks.
I haven't tallied up the total number of bird species seen but we saw more than 50 species we had never seen before.
