Hey Rob, these are the kind of shots that I dread. The shadow is distracting and the pose is too posed. There is nothing natural to the image. The way to avoid these kind of shadows is to use a transparent plastic bag or cigarette paper (vloeitjes) and cover up the direct flash. You could even try to use aluminium foil to redirect the flash to the ceiling. Change the direct flash to indirect and the shadows dissapear. Better still would be to photograph Joris with available light only. It has paid off well for Liselot.
