My favorite subjects are cats. I can never resist taking a shot of one as long as it sits still for me. I was lucky to find a few on this trip to Italy. I gravitated to the Cat Sanctuary at the Torre Argentina in Rome. Stray cats are rescued and cared for there in the heart of Rome. For more info, visit http://www.romancats.de/

These are really lovely shots! I have been to the cat sanctuary on Largo Argentina and to Venice and saw many pretty cats. Thank you for posting these.

When we travelled along the Amalfi coast we noticed so many cats. They all seemed to be well cared for. We heard a story that people protect and feed cats under penalty of the law, but this may have been a myth. Anyone heard of such a thing?

These are fantasic pictures...I was in Italy this summer and couldn't believe all the cats I saw...castle cats, street cats, yard cats. I took dozens and dozens of pics I'm from the US and we don't see cats running around like in Italy. Love the gatti d'Italia!
