Sicily 2010

I don't know abroad Italy how many people knows how beautiful is this part of my country. Probably Sicily is more popular on domestic and foreign medias for the mafia and the criminality , but when you have the opportunity to visit this island you find places and people that you can't imaging how amazing and hospitaly are. After have visited these places and met the people who lives there , the simple association of Sicily and criminality disappear and also if we can't hide the fact the mafia and criminality present in some areas are limiting the development of this region ,we can't avoid also to recognize that Sicily could have high potentiality to growing only capitalizing on the tourism and the agriculture thanks to a mix of nature, history ,architecture and traditions to enjoy your soul seasoned with excellent food and wines to gratify the palate more demanding ,served with the warm and hospitality of the inhabitants . These are the reasons that have pushed me to visit one part of Sicily during a 8 day journey from Palermo to Catania along the south coast. I didn't spent time in those two big cities because 8 days were not enough to visit them and the rest of the places that I had in my program.I've preferred touch many other small villages like Sciacca, Modica ,Ragusa Ibla or Noto that are simply magic .Probably in the future I'll come back to Sicily to visit the remaining villages in the North coast or the amazing small islands like the Eolie or Favignana , but for the moment here you find a collection of my shoots from this my first journey in these places .May be that are too many ,and I hope in the coming weeks or months to better sort them, but all the balcony , all the old banisters and windows , all the narrow streets between the old and sometime derelict buildings or the old temples of Segesta , Selinunte and Agrigento have taken over my finger on the camera. Anyway I hope despite the quality of my pictures to give you a clear view of what you could expect visiting these places. P.S. If you have intention to do the same journey and you want some suggestions for bed and breakfast or good and not expensive resturant don't esitate to contact me by mail. Roberto.
