Scientific name: Casuarius casuarius (Linnaeus, 1758).
Cassowaries (genus Casuarius) are very large flightless birds native to the tropical forests of New Guinea and Australia. Some nearby islands have small cassowary populations.
The Southern Cassowary is sometimes called the Australian Cassowary or sometimes the Double-wattled Cassowary. More info is here.
