Tobago

These are a few pix from a trip to Tobago in January. Technically the wet season ends in December, but there were quite a lot of heavy and unpredictable downpours during my visit.

I stayed at Blue Waters Inn near Speyside in the North of Tobago and was hoping to see some animals, but they were few and far between. I did glimpse one armadillo in the rainforest, but it was too quick even for my video.

There were a lot of birds although that isn't really my forte. It was a little disappointing that I didn't ever get a fully sharp photo of the ubiquitous bananaquits (very friendly small, yellow and black birds with prominent white head stripes)... but they move so quickly ... and even the larger motmots always seemed to position themselves in dark bushes or with a bright light behind them, which left both my autofocus and exposure struggling. All pix were taken using a Fujifilm Finepix s8000fd, which has an x18 optical zoom.
