Clonmacnoise is by the River Shannon and borders both Counties Galway & Roscommon.
There are some interesting high crosses. The originals are now protected in a museum complex.
Outside, replica crosses (they are an exact copy, but not in stone!)
are displayed in their original positions.
The crosses date from several hundred years after St Patrick converted Ireland to Christianity,
although one bears an engraving of the Celtic pagan god Cernunnos.
