Gambia

A relaxing stay at Mandina Lodges, with a lot of bird (and a small amount of mammal) interest.

Mornings were cool, but by midday it became very hot.
We went on morning boat trips and stayed by the pool in the afternoon,
where pied kingfishers and bee eaters dived in to wash themselves...or cool off

Green monkeys were in the grounds, and a troup of around 200 baboons lived in the forest.
They were actively discouraged due to the damage that they caused.
There was also a colony of Gambian Epauletted Fruit Bats in the restaurant...
a bit messy, but very entertaining!
