Amboseli from Elerai Camp

Elerai Camp is sited in its own conservancy, about 40 minutes drive from Amboseli (Kimana Gate)...

The conservancy waterhole, easily visible from the camp restaurant,
attracted mainly elephants and giraffe,
with occasional sightings of buffalo, gazelles and even a jackal.

The rains had only very recently stopped, so everything was still green...but drying out quickly...
It was hot, but not uncomfortably so, due to the elevation (1400m at Elerai...
and about 1100 m at Amboseli)

From my "tent" , there were wonderful views of Kilimanjaro (over the border in Tanzania)...
and the food and service provided were absolutely excellent!...

Amboseli, itself was teeming with birds, plus a huge herd of elephants...
although very few predators showed themselves, maybe due to the long grass.
We spotted one distant cheetah and one slightly nearer hyena...
lions were seen, but not by us!
We did go on one night safari in the conservancy...but only saw two Dik diks...
maybe the nearly full moon kept the animals hiding?
