Shkodar (the other side of border Lake Shkodar/Skadar)was much more modern than I had expected. We did see a few of the several hundred thousand concrete bunkers ... built during Enva Hoxa's days, but mostly, traces of the old communist Albania had gone.
Most of the churches and mosques are new, as the originals were destroyed. Only two mosques survived but had their minarets removed)
