SwanLake in winter 2.jpg

Wonder again if cropping to the thirds rule would improve this shot. As the swans are smack bang in the centre would it lose its mood by cropping ? Any comments .

Hi Robbie - I love the moodiness of this image, however I would probably crop a bit more off the bottom and off the right side as well ... probably cropping to the edge of the snowy leaves and branch on that right side. Thus that right branch provides a natural frame on that side and further focuses the eye to the swans.

Superb Robbie! I think it is just right as it is!

I agree with 455 rocket. This shot has lots of interest and the branches framing the swans makes the image work. Sometime you break the rules.--Rene

Nice shot Rob, I don't think the rule of thirds needs to be followed here, as the shot is more about the natural framing of the swans by the snow covered branches. May be as ClaireW suggests a tad of the right.... but it looks great to me.

Nothing wrong here mate........its a great image......nice framing........the two thirds thing don't always work...some Victorian tour guide come painter thought that one up...if it looks right to you, then its right...I luv it
