Birds of prey, caracaras are often seen flying along highways in the morning, looking for "road kill." Feeding chiefly on carrion, they often scavenge with vultures. Caracaras also hunt a variety of animals including small reptiles, mammals, birds, and fish.
Monogamous, this is the only member of the falcon family that actually collects material and builds nests.
