Red-crested Cardinal

Paroaria coronata

Originally from South America, these attractive birds were introduced to the islands between
1928 and 1931. They have adapted well to the Hawaiian environment.
I was looking for them in many different places but had no luck until I was walking
back to my car and a pair was waiting for me on the parking lot.
That's birding for you! :0)
