A sculpture of H. R. MacMillan by artist Cheng Shu Ren.
Harvey Reginald MacMillan (1885-1976) was a Canadian forester,
forestry industrialist, wartime administrator, and philanthropist.
He obtained a Master of Science degree in Forestry at Yale in 1908
and was appointed first Chief Forester of British Columbia in 1912.
In 1919, he established the very successful H. R. MacMillan lumber
export company.
MacMillan funded many philanthropic endeavours in our province,
which includes a provincial park, a conservatory and a space centre all of
which were named in his honour.
And so ends this rather lengthy Vancouver Island gallery…
