“Letters From The Front” by artist David Goatley, painted in 2002
This mural features Lieutenant General Arthur Currie, commander at
Vimy Ridge, as well as a portrait of Edmund J. Palmer, the local postmaster
and mill manager. The other figures on the left and the right illustrate the
ordinary men and women who suffered through the war years at home
and on the front, linked only to their loved ones by mail which was the
only lifeline of communication. It is so appropriate that this mural is on
the wall of the local post office.
