Mask Mandatory Express

In Vancouver, masks are finally mandatory in all indoor public spaces
as well as commercial spaces and of course transit. From the beginning
of the pandemic when masks were advised not to be effective in stemming
the spread, to optional wearing with the idea that it only protect others, to
finally realizing that masks not only protect others but also the wearer,
the evolution to this point has taken too long. Common sense should
have prevailed much earlier. A simple measure that shows respect and a
good collective effort that all can be proud of to fight this pandemic.

Just yesterday, a group gathered downtown to protest the mandatory mask rule.
I don’t understand their point of view at all, to fight for the freedom to choose
not to protect themselves and others ?

As a side note; the anthem singer for the Vancouver Canucks NHL ice hockey
team was schedule to perform at this rally. He was immediately and
unceremoniously fired by the owner for supporting this event.

It is funny (well not funny) how the most common sense practices become politicized and then fall into one of two political camps. If you are pro-mask you are a neo-Marxist revolutionary and if you are anti-mask you get your marching orders out of Mein Kampf. Even the seriousness of the issue - 340000 deaths in the US thus far - is not enough to dissuade some from stubbornly clinging to the ideological framework of the political camp with whom the identify.

I just don't understand the big deal...just wear the damn mask! Interesting to see it on the bus.

Good to hear ! It is such a little thing to do. I would like to ask the protesters if they do up their car seat belts - some of us will remember the hullabaloo when they became mandatory.!!!

A nice crisp capture to document this sign of the times scene.

This image is as powerful as the mediate.
I love all of the amazing reflections found here.

a timely reminder...the anti-masker fools may turn out to be the anti-vaccine crowd too, just to complicate the health scene all the more..

Glad to see masks are mandatory there and distressed to hear about the protest, which I, too, simply don't understand. I've come to believe that there are an awful a lot of stupid people around these days. V.

Good shot with the sign on the bus. Masks have been mandatory here in all public and commercial indoor areas for months, but that did not stop the infection numbers from rising. So starting today, we are on a mandatory stay at home order for three weeks along with a long list of other restrictions. "V"

Particularly with the constantly higher death rate and shortness of beds and medical personnel.

Nice to see masks are mandatory now-.V

Definitely a sign of the times, your nice sharp shot. I also don't understand the thinking behind the protests against mask wearing. Wouldn't you think these people would want to protect themselves even if they don't care about anyone else?! V
