California Academy of Science, San Francisco

A beautiful and ecologically green structure designed by the famed Italian architect
Renzo Piano, the academy houses a living planted roof of indigenous plants as well
as a glass facade to let in natural light. Thousands of small solar panel tiles
incorporated into its glass overhangs supply most of its electricity needs.

The symmetry, intersecting lines and interplay of architectural and human elements make for a very powerful and satisfying image. It really gives an idea of the originality and complexity of Piano's architectural vision. My favourite from this gallery so far. BV
