Here is the entrance to la Mezquita. This building is the cathedral in Cordoba. It was originally built as a mosque and then converted to a cathdral after the Muslims were either forced to leave Spain or convert to Christianity. The guide told us that the building was protected because it had been made into a church. Otherwise, it could have been destroyed. This image seems strange to me becasue it shows images of angel and saints surrounded by tradtional Islamic architecture.
