With the lowest population density of any country on earth, Mongolia was just up my street: Beautiful scenery, unspoilt nature and wide open spaces!

A country without fences where most people still ride horses. Mountain rivers full of fish (though I never seemed to catch any). Kazakhs who hunt with Golden Eagles. A dream destination for us.

We travelled around Mongolia in a 4x4 for a month in 2010 with our excellent driver\guide Algaa. The country is massive and travelling times long, so flying to\from regional destination can be a good option. Mongolian food can be challenging to Westerners - come prepared!
