Hafez's Tomb

In a country renowned for its poets, Hafez (1325-1389 AD) is probably the Iranian people's favourite.
His poems were written in times when political dissent was dangerous. Nevertheless many of his poems allude to exposing hypocrisy.
His poems are very spiritual and wise, and many Iranians learn his poems by heart and use them as proverbs, sayings and scriptural interpretations to this day.
I have certainly enjoyed reading his poetry, although Iranians tell me a lot of meaning is lost in translation.

Hafez's tomb is always popular with people coming to pay their respects and to enjoy the tranquil gardens and teahouse.
