Aswan, Temple of Philae


Like its more famous neighbour Abu Simbel, the Temple of Philae has been rescued twice from the rising waters of dams on the River Nile.

The earliest temple remains were dedicated to the Goddess Isis, patroness of nature and magic and friend of the downtrodden.
