A view of the Kalmiopsis, looking towards Gants Pass and Medford, Oregon, 50 and 75 miles away to the east. Just about everything viewed in between was burned by the 500,000 acre Biscuit Fire in 2002. The lightning caused fire burned from July - November until the winter rains and snow began to fall. This photo was taken in 2009. I haven't been there since the summer of 2011, would be interesting to see the continued recovery and reforestation of the area.
