Borobudur (2004) - 8th Century Indonesia had Galleries too

My fourth trip to Borobudur. Located in central Java, Borobudur is the largest Buddhist temple in the world. The photographs are taken with a 6MP camera - a Nikon D70. The photographs taken in 2002 with a 2MP Canon A20, shown in my gallery Borobudur (2002), stand up very well by comparison.

Borobudur was built in the late 8th century and early 9th century. It apparently has 1460 narrative panels, 1212 decorative panels, 100 gargoyles, 432 Buddha images, 72 Buddhas in stupas and 1472 stupas.

Borobudur has galleries, miles of them, lined with decorative and narrative stone reliefs.

Hi Paul,
This was a very beautiful galery. The images of budhha have been captured in detail doing a good amount of justice to the sculpture.
