My wife Helen mentioned a year ago that for her 60th birthday she wanted to try skydiving.Three weeks ago she said she still wanted to do it so we set up a Saturday afternoon jump about an hour north of here.Here are some images taken by the skydiving crew,using wrist and helmet cameras.She said it was a thrill of a lifetime.While she was up there floating downward she felt the presence of her mom.She had tears in her eyes when she landed.
The crew from the Edmonton Skydiving Club were very professional,very safety conscious,had top notch gear and a great camera set up for capturing this moment.One camera person flew alongside to capture many of the initial shots before she broke away and got below Helen and her tandem partner Lenny.
Lenny holds a world record for the most jumps in a 3 hour period -50 jumps.....or did he say 50 jumps in 10 hours????...I forget...."How many hours was it Lenny for those 50 jumps?"Anyway he said they had a fresh parachute ready for him as soon as he landed and the plane was taxiing each time so he could just jump in and strap on his chute as the plane was moving.
