I took this picture of this nondescript pile of tree boughs to show how meticulously they are keeping the forest floor.I would imagine this is a fire prevention exercise as the area is into it's 9th year of drought and the fire danger was extremely high>The temperature this day was 115 F.Lots of water is a must if hiking in the canyon- 1 gallon per person in this heat.
