Miseracordia Hospital,Edmonton

My wife Helen was going to work on Friday morning and slipped on ice in the transit parking lot.She fell breaking her leg in two places, her fibia and tibula. An ambulance ride later she was at the hospital and in surgery a few hours later.I found out after she had the best orthopaedic surgeon in the city which was one blessing.
I took this shot just after they fitted her with an airboot(in place of the old style plaster cast they used in the old days).Very painful procedure when you have two broken bones and fresh incisions.
I wanted to show the pain she was in so that later when she is all healed and back to normal she can look back at it and see how she has come along. This was her worst moment.
I got her home yesterday and we will have home care come in and help with her dressings and maybe her anti blood clotting shots she'll need for 10 days.
I am now her nurse, cook and willing maid.
My poor baby.

I do hope your wife has recovered. I have a good
friend in Calgary who suffered an identical injury
just before Christmas, his included a dislocation of
his ankle. I know the pain he felt so my deepest
sympathies to your wife.

Rick, sorry to hear about Helen. We wish her a speeding recovery. I do know, how rough this will be for you. I went through something like this when Sandy torn a tendon in her foot. There will be better days ahead. Our best. Gary & Sandy

Wow, sounds kind of like what my sister did! I do hope she heals quickly. It took my sis 5 months to be able to walk again. Slowly walking now. Glad it wasn't anything more serious!

Your poor wife! Hope that she's back on her feet in no time (well.... 6 weeks or so...)!
Now, take good care of her and buy her some flowers! V :)

I am so sorry to hear your news. Helen is so energetic and travels so much, this will be tough. Please give her a big hug from Ted, tell her we wish her well and once she feels better next week to use the right foot to kick you in the pants not her left as it might hurt her..... V

I am sorry for your wife and hope she will heal fast without too much pain. Mine just had her cast removed on a broken right wrist. So I know what you mean about doing housework !V!

Your poor wife.
I am sure you did the right thing to show her how poorly she looked, and how much better she will be looking after your care and ministrations.
God Bless her, and yourself.
