This festival I last attended about 10 years ago so it was time for a revisit. It has grown from just a few countries represented back 38 years ago to this year having over 60 pavillions and more than 85 cultures from around the world. You get a chance to sample foods in bite size portions from all around the world. Many of the exhibitors put on a stage performance next to their food tents showcasing their varied cultures. They are averaging over 100,000 people per day.I must admit that the size of the crowd did make it somewhat unpleasant at times....the long food lineups and inability to get close to the stages. At times you were shoulder to shoulder with the crowd. The Edmonton Food Bank uses this event as their biggest food donation drive of the year. They charge no admission to the festival but do ask that you bring a food donation to help out Edmonton's poor and needy.I hope their bins are overflowing by tomorrow nite ending the 3 day festival.
No personal vehicles are allowed except for exhibitors so you either walk, bike or take the bus. They have booths set up to sell food tickets so no money changes hands at the food booths.Their food sells from 2-8 tickets per item.
So here's a tip I found out after....get there early in the morning and avoid the masses!
