These 3 Dowitchers landed about 75 yds from me while I was scoping Golden Reservoir (in the "Duxbury Bogs" area during the annual South Shore Bird Club Waterbird survey. They were silent so no vocal help with the identification.
The photos were taken with full zoom on my Canon Powershot hence further enlarging isn't helpful when trying to study the tertials. That said, this photo (and a 2nd poorer one) appears to show markings that suggest a Short-billed. Overall, though, the chunkiness and the very dark chests lead me to think Long-billed - also this late date is more likely to produce long-billeds. Absent anything conclusive, these will be reported as Dowitchers (sp.)
