The Dunlin were not skittish today and let me approach reasonably close. With the 400mm lens I was able to got this shot of a molting bird well into its dramatic transformation from its dull gray and white winter plumage to the handsome alternate/breeding plumage featuring a bright red-orange back and jet black belly.
