This individual popped up in a roadside bush just north of the 2nd crossover. There was an active flock of 4-6 Sparrows in the bush and just as I concluded that they were all Savannahs, this little gem popped up on top of a poison ivy stalk flashed its pinkish bill and posed long enough for me to grab a photo of what I was anticipating to be a Field Sparrow. When I looked through the viewfinder, I was pleasantly surprised to see the facial pattern and gray nape of this Clay-colored Sparrow!
