This bird was initially seen on the snow fence that runs along the east side of the road between the 1st and 2nd crossovers (see previous photo) and then flew down onto the exposed tidal mud. Its dark markings (especially on the top of the head)clearly differentiate it from the individuals seen earlier this season - and from the 2nd owl seen in the Gurnet Marsh (about a mile away) a few minutes later (see next photo).
