This bird was found about in a small panne in the Gurnet Marsh about 50 yards west of the beach road and about 80 yards south of the town line marker at about noon and relocated in the same spot (after an absence)at about 2:30pm.
The books say Juveniles and Non-breeding adults are hard to tell apart. This has to be one of the two because of the lack of barring on the underparts. The wing coverts are pretty well marked on this bird which suggests an adult. The bill doesn't seem unusually long, and that is said to be indicative of a male.
The 5 photos here presented show the bird facing both ways, with a "posse" of not-fully grown fledged Willets, and in a group portrait with one of the juv. Willets and one of the caladris Sandpipers - very likely a Least given the location. The final shot shows the setting of the little panne.
