Photos of these two juveniles were taken in Duxbury, MA an hour before a low (8.3ft) high tide just west of the Bluefish River culvert under Washington St. The birds were about 20 yards apart, each against the bank not moving about. Field marks clearly separating from juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron include long legs with tail just to the knees, thick dark bill, small spots on wings, narrowish breast streaks.
