Although heavily 'touristed', Bora Bora is still a very beautiful place. Most people come here on package holidays from the US and stay in all-inc over water bungalow complexes. Whilst nice, this doesn't give you any sort of flavor of the island. I would recommend adding a few nights stay in a local's guest house and doing some trekking on the main island to complement your week of lazing.
A short ferry ride away is Maupiti - a similar shaped (and possibly even more beautiful) island to Bora Bora - but without the tourists!
