Commander R.B. "Pete" Hailey, U.S. Navy (Retired),now 87, served 7 combat patrols in the Pacific aboard the submarine USS Perch during WWII and served as a staff officer during the Korean War. He became an attorney between those wars and finally retired from active law practice just a couple of years ago. He has been very active in supporting veteran's affairs and also served as a University of Tennessee Trustee. He is but one example of the many men and women who not only served our country during wartime but made a lasting contribution in civilian life.
