This cabin is now located at the Chattagooga Nature Center. It was originally the home of Chief Walkingstick at Cherokee, NC. My great-grandmother was Sarah Walkingstick.
in the mid-1950's, my uncle (who lived in Canton, NC)was the pastor of a small church. I was privileged to attend a very small church near Cherokee, and met a young Indian girl about my age believed to the daughter or granddaughter of Chief Walkingstick. I gave her my winter coat, and she taught me some words that I thought meant "I love you". They were (in southern phonetic) "hi yo eny meny cha cha, un cha cha, key wah wah." I never forgot those words nor her, but do not have any idea who she was and what that all meant.

Great texture and light. I like the story about your heritage. Very interesting!
