Project 5 - Drama and Mylar

Like many photographers, I tend to be opportunistic and I’m not used to creativity on demand. Moreover, it is much easier to go out, discover and frame something that you find beautiful, than to preconceive an idea and then construct a scene that portrays your reality. Our instructor claims that this distinguishes a “snap shooter” from a true artist. He also recommended that I find some reflective Mylar and try to capture interesting reflections in this unpredictable medium. I enlisted some family friends and took some dramatic, almost monotone photos, which I also shot in the Mylar. My feeling is that I did not have the control that I wanted with the Mylar reflections. The shapes are just too random for my taste.
