The last time I held a crayon was in kindergarten and I've never held a paint brush. This fall I decided to step out of my comfort zone and take some formal art classes. I've already become acutely aware of tonal values, to the point of noticing that the light along a tree trunk is warmer at the base of the tree than it is in the top branches. This can't help but influence the way I take photographs. .
