Rock Doves

Enid, Oklahoma

On a cold, gray autumn afternoon, a flock of Rock Doves (Columba livia) rest on the guy wires of the exhaust stacks of the abandoned Gold Spot dairy. Better known as Pigeons, Rock Doves are native to Europe. Primarily because of the transportation and storage of grain, the birds have long been a nuisance within the Enid city limits. However, their numbers have diminished in recent years.
